2025

The 38th HSN Conference took place on 28–29 November 2025 at Tilburg University. I served as a co-organiser and track leader for Digital Literacy and Didactics. Further details are available in this post.

2024

24–26 June 2024 Attended the European Conference on Literacy in Crete, Greece, as a member of FELA and a board member of ELINET. Presented at the second ELINET Symposium on digital literacy, titled “New Conceptual Tools for Understanding and Researching Digital Information”, alongside Sari Sulkunen, Colin Harrison, and Sandra Langer.… Read the rest

Since the 90ths of the 20th century I am an active member of the International Reading Association I am also the representative of the Netherlands in the International Development in Europe Committee (IDEC), in which over 30 European countries collaborate on literacy in Europe. I’m also the webmaster of the IDEC website Go there and have a look. To give you an idea about the activities of IDEC I will give you some links to posts on the IDEC site. European Conference on Reading 2013 Presentations & Keynotes

I’m the representative of the Netherlands at the IDEC, International Development of Europe Committee of the International Reading Association, IRA.
Every second year the IDEC organises a European Reading Conference. The 18th European Conference on Reading was held in Jönköping, Sweden, August 6-9, 2013 and was a success. More than 300 participants, almost 170 presentations and workshops.The weather was great and so was Jönköping. I had a workshop there too.

Een tijdje geleden werd ik gevraagd door Victoria Risko, President van de International Reading Association, om als gastblogger iets te schrijven in haar Presidential Blog Corner. We hadden een paar keer met elkaar gesproken en zij was heel geïnteresseerd in het onderzoek dat ik doe naar digitale geletterdheid. Voor mijn volgers die mij niet volgen op mijn research blog plaats ik deze blog nogmaals hier. Het is in het Engels, maar dat is voor Nederlanders toch geen probleem? Of wel, tegenwoordig 😉
