We are pleased to inform you that the call for applications and nominations for the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes has just been launched. The theme for this year is ‘Literacy and Multilingualism’.

Since 1967, UNESCO International Literacy Prizes have rewarded excellence and innovation in the field of literacy. Over 490 projects and programmes undertaken by governments, non-governmental organizations and individuals around the world have been recognized. Through these prestigious Prizes, UNESCO seeks to support effective literacy practices and encourages the promotion of dynamic literate societies.

We hebben deze week het project Verborgen Familieverleden (VFV) voor het derde jaar uitgevoerd op Huizermaat in Huizen met 25 V4 leerlingen. Het was de korte variant: een week research doen naar een overleden bloedverwant en van de resultaten een poster maken.
Zie hier eerdere berichten over Verborgen Familieverleden. VFV heeft nu ook een eigen website.

Er zijn weer prachtige resultaten uitgekomen, van een Viking in de negende eeuw als voorouder, een 18e eeuwse burgemeester van Zutphen met veel mooie villa’s tot een grootmoeder die in de zestiger jaren op de fiets van Oost- naar West-Amerika heeft gereisd.
Een aantal leerlingen wil doorgaan en het onderzoek nog verdiepen.… Read the rest

De 21st European Conference on Literacy is in Kopenhagen van 4-7 Augustus. Ik had jullie al eerder opgeroepen voorstellen voor presentaties of workshops in te dienen –November 1st: Deadline for submission of abstracts-, maar ik kreeg het bericht dat er nog geen Nederlandse voorstellen zijn. Dat kan niet. In Nederland wordt veel goed werk verricht op het gebied van geletterdheid. Dus een urgente oproep een voorstel in te dienen.
Op de website van de conferentie  vind je alle informatie over de conferentie en de mogelijkheid een proposal in te dienen. Ik ben betrokken bij de organisatie. Om het gezicht van Nederland te redden zal ik in elk geval een workshop geven over digitale geletterdheid, maar 1 Nederlander?… Read the rest

De ontwikkelteams van curriculum.nu zijn inmiddels in de derde fase beland. Zij vragen feedback op hun ‘grote opdrachten’. Wilt u meedenken? Doe dit online op https://curriculum.nu/feedback/ en/of kom naar de feedbacksessies. Ik ben vooral betrokken bij die van het ontwikkelteam Nederlands, en die van Digitale geletterdheid.
De ontwikkelgroep Digitale Geletterdheid organiseert – in navolging van hun sessies van 4 april en 13 juni j.l. –  op  31 oktober vanaf 13.30 uur bij het Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld & Geluid een feedbacksessie vanuit het netwerk van Mediawijzer.net (zie hier voor de opdrachten en de consultatievragen).
